The band was founded in January 2004 and consists now of young musicians from Finland, Denmark and UK.
In the first days of 2010 Baltic Crossing recorded their second album, ”FIRETOUR” in Finland. As well as the band’s first CD (nominated in two categories at the Danish Music Awards Folk 2009!), it was released on Go Danish Folk Music
Latest Baltic Crossing has been awarded by European Concert Hall Organisation for the “Risisng Star Programme”. From December 2010 to May 2011 tta brought them on tour to many big and famous concert halls through-out Europe.
Already back in 2009 they played at many big venues such as Celtic Connections in Glasgow, Scotland, tours in Denmark and Norway, Danish Music Awards in Tønder, festivals in England, Belgium and Sweden and Off-Womex showcase in Copenhagen. In 2010 they have played a long row of concerts in Finland, Norway and Denmarkas well as released their second CD, ”FIRETOUR”.
Baltic Crossing also participates on Kristian’s debut CD from 2005. That CD was awarded “Folk debut of the year” and “Folk instrumentalist of the year” at Danish Music Awards – Folk in Tønder on March 11th 2006!
Baltic Crossing is: Antti Jävelä [FI] on double bass, fiddle and mandolin – Kristian Bugge [DK] fiddle – Ian Stephenson [UK] guitar and two-rowed accordion – Andy May [UK] on northumbrian pipes and piano – Esko Järvelä [FI] five stringed fiddle.
